Waterford Township Public Library (WTPL), is seeking interns to serve as mentors who will teach and assist other teens for our 2017 Summer Maker Camp (June 27th – August 2nd). Interns will receive a stipend at the end of their term of service. Interns will also receive a t-shirt, and a nametag to wear while they are working as an intern, and will be provided with training and materials to use during their term. In the case of early termination of internship, the stipend will be prorated (the intern will receive only a portion of the stipend). At the completion of the internship, the intern will receive a certificate for participating in the Teen Internship Program.
Interns will be selected based on intention, a willingness to see projects through from beginning to end, leadership potential, and specialties and interests. The successful intern will exhibit an openness to work in collaborative situations, an ability to engage with the community, and a willingness to learn.
Assist in various aspects of the Summer Maker Camp (planning, advertising, implementation of programs) as assigned.
Help prepare supplies and materials for weekly projects.
Assist in setup/cleanup of activities.
Provide support and guidance to teens and assist with group management.
Design and lead lessons, and/or projects.
Represent the library by wearing provided intern t-shirt and name tag while volunteering.
Other duties as required.
Ability to receive/follow instructions.
Must be self-motivated and able to stay on task without direct supervision.
Ability to work as part of team.
Must be 14-18 years old, have a way of transportation to/from the library, and must be reliable and on time.
Must be available to work approximately 6 hours or more per week the weeks of June 27th to August 9th
Must be able to attend orientation/training on Wednesday, June 21st.
